Experian needed a solution to assist employees and managers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in carrying out appraisals.
The solution required management of objectives set between an employee and their manager at the start of the performance year. It also needed an area for employees to add and update their career history, qualifications or official training, language competencies and mobility preferences.
Experian required information to be stored in an easily accessible, non-paper based and updateable format.
Alexandra Shergold, Senior Talent Management Analyst at Experian
Intelligent Decisioning provided project management, development and business analyst resource for the My Performance for Growth project. Our business analyst resource worked closely with Experian project stakeholders to understand the scope and requirements of the solution, and to consult with Experian to discover the most cost effective method for the solution.
The project was managed using Agile, with daily sprint calls used as the primary communication method between id and the Experian project team, and weekly meetings to ensure the project was moving in the right direction. The development team deployed features to a dedicated User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment available to Experian, allowing transparency in the development process.
Our solution utilised the My Site functionality of SharePoint 2013 to extend the out-of-the-box employee profile pages. It used information already held about employees in the User Profile Service to add further personalisation the solution.
The data capture was achieved using InfoPath 2013 forms. Forms are accessed via a central page by the employee and line manager and the data stored within these forms were held in a hidden library on the employee’s My Site. A custom security model ensured that only the employee or line manager had access to view or edit. To gather information captured in these forms across the solution, custom reporting functionality was built which allowed the Talent Management team and HR representatives to run ad-hoc reports.
The solution has improved their appraisal process and has helped Experian move from a traditional paper based system to online, giving employees and line managers a secured area to set objectives and document progress against those objectives at any time, all from a single location.
By moving this data online, a custom reporting solution enabled the HR department to collate talent management and performance data about employees at any time. The data can then be broken down into region, country and department to give more detailed analysis.
