We really enjoyed working closely with Rainbows Hospice to bring this vision to life—modernising their intranet and tackling their document management challenges in a joined-up way.

The new solution brought together a powerful combination of elements to fulfil Rainbows Hospice objectives:

The Components of Success

Mercury Intranet: This state-of-the-art intranet platform, built on SharePoint, not only provided a modern and visually appealing interface but also perfectly aligned with their branding. It gave colleagues easy access to news, information, integrated business systems, and collaboration tools.

docCentrum Document Management: In their pursuit of more efficient and secure document management, Rainbows Hospice upgraded their back-end document storage system to docCentrum. This transformation ensured that colleagues could access the correct and up-to-date versions of documents swiftly and securely.

Power Platform: To further streamline operations and foster productivity, web-based forms were replaced with PowerApps, introducing automation and approval processes across various core business functions. Power Automate was also utilised to streamline workflows efficiently.

The Impact Unveiled

Rainbows Hospice has seen significant improvements following the implementation of the new solution. A modern intranet now provides a central hub for news, systems and collaboration, with an intuitive experience that makes information easy to find.

docCentrum Featured in Microsoft SharePoint Partner Showcase

We’re proud to share that Intelligent Decisioning and our product suite — including docCentrum — were recently featured in a Microsoft SharePoint Partner Showcase, hosted by Vesa Juvonen from Microsoft.

The showcase highlights how Intelligent Decisioning builds secure, native solutions on top of SharePoint and Microsoft 365, and forms part of Microsoft’s ongoing partner series that spotlights organisations delivering real‑world value by extending the SharePoint platform in the right way.

Showcasing Intelligent Decisioning’s product suite

In the Microsoft showcase, Tony Pounder (CTO), Andy Smith (Director), and Nick Boden (Content and Collaboration Specialist) joined Vesa Juvonen to discuss how Intelligent Decisioning designs and delivers solutions that work natively within SharePoint and Microsoft 365, rather than alongside or outside the platform.

The session highlights Intelligent Decisioning’s approach to building a cohesive product suite — including docCentrum — using modern SharePoint capabilities and the SharePoint Framework (SPFx), enabling solutions that inherit Microsoft 365 security, identity, and governance controls by design.

docCentrum: Document control built natively on SharePoint

As part of the showcased product suite, docCentrum was presented as Intelligent Decisioning’s document and records management solution, designed to help organisations improve governance, control, and compliance while continuing to work within SharePoint.

By building docCentrum directly on SharePoint, Intelligent Decisioning enables customers to:

  • Manage documents and records within familiar Microsoft 365 experiences
  • Strengthen information governance without duplicating content
  • Leverage SharePoint’s native security and permission model
  • Reduce complexity while improving control and consistency

These principles align closely with Microsoft’s guidance on extending SharePoint using native frameworks and platform capabilities.

Why this recognition matters

Being featured in a Microsoft SharePoint Partner Showcase is a strong validation of Intelligent Decisioning’s approach to product design and delivery.

Microsoft’s showcase series focuses on partners who:

  • Build secure, native experiences on SharePoint
  • Align closely with Microsoft’s platform direction
  • Help customers get more value from Microsoft 365 without unnecessary complexity

docCentrum’s inclusion as part of this featured product suite reflects Intelligent Decisioning’s commitment to delivering solutions that feel like a natural extension of SharePoint, rather than third‑party add‑ons.

How Intranets Improve Employee Satisfaction

In today’s digital workplace, employee satisfaction is not just a “nice-to-have” but a critical driver of productivity and retention. Modern intranets have emerged as powerful tools that not only streamline operations but also foster a culture of engagement and belonging. Recent statistics and case studies highlight just how transformative a well-designed intranet can be for employee morale and company success.

1. Boosting Engagement Through Enhanced Communication

Clear, Transparent Communication
According to industry reports, companies that use intranet platforms for internal communications see engagement improvements of up to 20–25%. An intranet offers a centralised hub for company news, updates, and executive messages, ensuring that every team member is aligned with the company’s vision and goals. This level of transparency minimises misunderstandings and creates an environment where employees feel genuinely informed and valued.

2. Accelerating Collaboration Across Departments

Breaking Down Silos
Intranets break down organisational silos by connecting disparate teams through shared digital workspaces. Features such as discussion boards, project management tools, and real-time chat channels enable seamless collaboration, regardless of geographic location. Staffbase research indicates that improved collaboration can lead to a 15% increase in overall productivity, making cross-functional teamwork more efficient and innovative.

3. Streamlining Access to Critical Information

Reducing Information Overload
One of the key frustrations for employees is the time wasted searching for information. A centralised intranet repository allows staff to quickly access documents, policies, and training materials. Studies have shown that when employees spend less time hunting for information, overall productivity can rise by up to 15%. By making information easily accessible, organisations not only reduce stress but also empower employees to focus on value-added tasks.

4. Driving Recognition and Reward Programs

Fostering a Culture of Appreciation
Recognition is a critical component of employee satisfaction. Intranets that incorporate recognition features—such as employee spotlights, peer-to-peer shout-outs, and achievement badges—can significantly uplift morale. Platforms featuring dynamic user profiles and recognition functionalities see a notable boost in employee engagement, with some companies reporting up to a 30% increase in user interaction.

5. Empowering Remote and Hybrid Workforces

Keeping Everyone Connected
The shift toward remote and hybrid work models has underscored the need for robust digital communication tools. Intranets ensure that remote employees receive the same information and support as those in the office. Hubley reports that organisations using intranet solutions to connect their remote workforce see improvements in engagement and growth, ensuring that no employee feels left out, regardless of location.

6. Personalising the Employee Experience

Tailored Content for Greater Relevance
Modern intranet platforms offer personalisation capabilities that deliver role-specific content. By curating news, resources, and updates according to an employee’s function or location, companies can ensure that the content is both relevant and engaging.

7. Enabling Continuous Feedback and Innovation

Creating a Voice for Every Employee
A two-way communication channel is vital for a thriving workplace. Intranets can host regular surveys, suggestion boxes, and open forums where employees can share ideas and feedback. This constant loop of communication not only fosters innovation but also instills a sense of ownership among employees, driving a more responsive and adaptive work culture.

8. Enhancing Onboarding and Continuous Learning

Smooth Transitions and Ongoing Development
For new hires, an intranet can serve as an invaluable onboarding portal—offering everything from welcome videos and training modules to digital handbooks and FAQs. This streamlined introduction to company culture not only shortens the learning curve but also builds confidence among new employees. A comprehensive onboarding process has been linked to improved employee retention and higher satisfaction levels right from the start.

9. Promoting Work-Life Balance and Well-Being

Supporting the Whole Employee
A balanced work-life dynamic is increasingly seen as essential for job satisfaction. Intranets can host wellness programs, internal event calendars, and forums for non-work interests, all of which contribute to a healthier, more engaged workforce. By supporting employee well-being outside of traditional work responsibilities, companies can nurture a more loyal and satisfied team.

10. Cultivating a Unified Company Culture

Building a Shared Identity
A well-designed intranet reflects and reinforces a company’s core values and mission. Consistent messaging and accessible leadership communications help foster trust and build a unified organizational identity.

Intranets are no longer just repositories of static information; they are dynamic ecosystems that enhance employee satisfaction by fostering transparency, collaboration, and continuous learning. With proven metrics showing increases in engagement, productivity, and retention, organisations that invest in modern intranet solutions are well-positioned to create a vibrant, connected, and satisfied workforce. For businesses looking to boost employee morale and drive sustainable growth, embracing a comprehensive intranet strategy is a strategic imperative.

Building Collaborative NHS Teams with the Right Intranet Tools

Imagine an NHS where communication is seamless, teams are always on the same page, and every staff member has access to the tools they need—when they need them. No more chasing emails, no more outdated files, and no more information silos slowing you down. Sounds ideal, doesn’t it? Well, with the right intranet tools, this isn’t just a vision—it’s a reality within reach.

The Lifeline of Collaboration

In a high-pressure environment like the NHS, collaboration isn’t just helpful—it’s vital. From doctors coordinating patient care to admin teams juggling schedules, the ability to communicate and work effectively together can mean the difference between success and chaos. But let’s face it: without the right tools, collaboration can feel like pushing water uphill.

This is where a powerful, purpose-built intranet can transform the way NHS teams work. Think of it as the digital heartbeat of your organisation—a central hub that connects people, processes, and information.

What Makes an Intranet Truly Effective for NHS Teams?

It’s not just about having an intranet; it’s about having one that works for you. Here’s how the right intranet tools can turn your teams into a well-oiled machine:

  1. A Centralised Brain: Imagine a single platform where clinical guidelines, schedules, and updates live—accessible anytime, anywhere. No more digging through emails or losing critical files. With docCentrum, staff can securely store, manage, and retrieve documents with ease.
  2. Instant Collaboration at Your Fingertips: Whether it’s coordinating shift changes or brainstorming ways to improve care, integrating tools like Microsoft Teams ensures everyone stays connected, even across different locations. Real-time chat, video meetings, and file-sharing? Check, check, and check.
  3. Knowledge Sharing That Works: Every team has a wealth of experience and insights. A knowledge hub within your intranet allows staff to share best practices, clinical insights, and operational tips, ensuring the wheel isn’t reinvented every time.
  4. Streamlined Task Management: From assigning roles in emergency situations to tracking long-term projects, tools for task and project management ensure everyone knows what’s happening—and when. Deadlines aren’t missed, and accountability is baked into the process.
  5. Supporting the People Who Support Everyone Else: Let’s not forget the wellbeing of the very people holding the NHS together. The intranet can provide access to mental health resources, staff support programs, and even forums for peer encouragement, helping create a healthier, happier workforce.

Why Now Is the Time to Act

The NHS faces unique challenges: overburdened staff, constant pressure, and the need to do more with less. Investing in the right intranet solution isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a must-have to keep teams connected and resilient.

Take our intranet and document management solutions as an example. Tailored specifically for NHS needs, these tools prioritise security, compliance, and user-friendliness. Whether you’re navigating new policies or trying to streamline communication between departments, our solutions offer the flexibility and reliability you need.

A Future Where NHS Teams Thrive

Imagine walking into your next shift knowing you have everything you need—every document, every update, every message—at your fingertips. Imagine the time saved, the headaches avoided, and the energy redirected toward what really matters: patient care.

This is what’s possible when you equip NHS teams with the right intranet tools. The time to innovate is now. After all, the NHS isn’t just about treating patients; it’s about building a system that supports the people who make it all possible.

Let’s build that future—together.
