The Problem
Progress Housing Group built their intranet using Intelligent Decisionings Mercury for Classic SharePoint back in 2017. With the deprecation of Classic SharePoint announced by Microsoft and ambitions to improve collaboration, functionality and agile working, Progress decided that they had to make the move to Modern SharePoint and deprecate their classic intranet.
Our Approach
- Assessment and Planning: Discovery Exercise meetings to establish the requirements, branding requirements and permissions matrix. A project backlog board was created for every page within Progress Housings classic Mercury intranet. Progress reviewed each page and provided an up to date board to work from.
- Pre deployment: Setting up secure access for the software deployment and configuration
- Software Deployment: All carried out using Intelligent Decisionings innovative MyMercury software depoyment tool
- Configuration: All pages were created to specification and style aligned with the Group’s internal brand using the flexible branding options provided by Intelligent Decisionings Modern Mercury intranet.
- Go Live and Hyper Care:
We have partnered with ID since 2017 and it is always a positive experience; every project is a truly collaborative effort and also an opportunity to learn and supercharge continuous improvement. The team are solution-focused, responsive, and will evaluate even the most stretching idea and identify a practical way forward. They have been on hand throughout to guide us through the technicalities, accommodate changes to the original SoR, the team were patient whilst we worked through internal reviews and approvals, and support with implementation including training and guidance. ID are very open to innovation and also sharing learnings from different clients; ‘let me take that away and find a way’ was a refreshing approach to a project with some quite specific and complex requirements at times that required some clever navigating around the SharePoint ecosystem. Great communication throughout. It was also great to be pushed on the design. Progress had a clear idea and examples of how they wanted it to look. At first glance, a lot didn’t seem feasible, but we got there.
Nykkie (Project Manager)

“The project was really exciting and enjoyable to work on. We were guided through the whole project and supported constantly which was really reassuring, nothing seemed too much work or impossible to achieve. The communication worked between both sides incredibly well and we truly appreciate all your help and efforts in getting this project over the line. We are so happy with the outcome and continued support since going live.”

The Outcome
The project was a huge success, and both the project team and our colleagues are delighted with the updated intranet. Staff were able to quickly and efficiently find the things they needed on a day to day basis and as a result they were happier in their work amd far more productive
